Storm Damaged Roof? Don’t Miss Your Insurance Window

You have 1 year from the date of a storm to file an insurance

Most homeowners only have 1 year from the date of a storm to file an insurance claim for roof damage. After that, the cost of repairs comes out of pocket.

Bonner Built helps homeowners in North Atlanta navigate storm damage repairs and insurance claims — making sure roofs are inspected, covered, and restored before deadlines expire.

Even if a roof looks fine from the ground, storms often leave behind hidden issues that get worse over time.

Catching these problems early can mean the difference between a fully covered insurance claim and paying thousands later.

Types of Storm Damage We Handle

Not all damage is obvious. But all of it can cause problems if ignored. Here’s what we look for and how we help:

Hail Damage

Even small hail can bruise shingles, strip away granules, and shorten your roof's lifespan. Most of the time, this damage isn’t visible from the ground. That’s why we inspect both with drones and up close documenting damage for your insurance claim and recommending what’s needed.

Wind Damage

Strong winds can lift or rip away loose shingles. Once that protective layer is compromised, water can get in quickly. We often start with emergency tarping to minimize damage, then provide the repairs needed to secure your roof again.

Tree Damage

Falling limbs and debris can cause visible and hidden issues—from cracked decking to damaged gutters and joists. We inspect every layer to make sure no part of your structure has been compromised. Our priority is to stabilize your home and prevent further damage before full repairs begin.

Gutter Damage

Your gutter system directs water away from your home, but storms can tear it down or cause subtle leaks at the seams. We assess the damage, repair compromised sections, and ensure your gutters are both functional and cleanly integrated with your roofline.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After a bad recent hail storm, Erik with Bonner responded the next day to fly a drone. I was able to very clearly see the damage. Erik was great to work with managing the process efficiently from beginning to completion. The roofing crew was on time, and worked hard all day to complete the job. Their cleanup exceeded expectations and the roof looks great including upgraded Architectural shingles, heavy felt underlayment and new ridge vent. I would have no hesitation referring them and have already.

FAQs

How do I know if my roof has storm damage?

Most damage isn’t visible from the ground. A professional inspection identifies issues before they become costly.

What should I do after storm or hail damage in North Atlanta?

Start by calling Bonner Built for a prompt inspection. We’ll assess damage, tarp the roof if needed, and help you file an insurance claim. Then we’ll complete quality repairs to restore your roof’s integrity.

What if my insurance doesn’t approve the claim?

We’ll provide a clear, honest report. If repairs aren’t covered, you’ll still know exactly what your roof needs.

Can gutters or siding be included in a claim?

Yes — storm damage often impacts gutters, siding, and more. Our team documents everything for your claim.

Why Hire a Roofing Contractor in North Atlanta Instead of Doing It Yourself?

DIY roof work is risky and often leads to hidden problems, leaks, or voided warranties. Bonner Built’s certified installers use the right tools, safety gear, and premium materials to get the job done right the first time. With us, you get expert workmanship, warranty protection, and long-term peace of mind.

What does a roofing inspection involve?

A roofing inspection includes a full evaluation of shingles, flashing, underlayment, attic ventilation, and gutter condition. We document everything and provide a clear report. It's a smart move before storms, selling a home, or after visible wear.

Are gutter guards really worth the investment?

Yes—especially in Atlanta where falling leaves can clog gutters quickly. Gutter guards keep debris out, reduce maintenance, and prevent water overflow that can damage your roof or foundation. Bonner Built installs top-performing options that last.
